“ Really unique and delicious coffee. You know how they always tell you the coffee tastes like berries or citrus or chocolate,etc and I would just smile and nod and taste absolutely none of those flavors. Well this was the first time I was hit in the face with an amazing berry flavor! The guys running the shop are chill and knowledgeable. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in town! ”
“ I was a barista in the States for 8 years and this shop is unlike anything I've ever seen. The pour over I was served was one of the best, if not the best, cup of coffee I've had in my life. Same with the espresso. Robert and Andrew are absolute rockstars. I would move here just to have coffee here every morning. If you're interested in the science like me, they do things differently than I'm used to, but it's fascinating and there's no arguing with the results. I'm going to be thinking about this place for quite a while. Everything is 11 out of 10, the location, the ambience, the service, the coffee, I have zero notes. This is coffee done right. ”
“ Coming from San Francisco, we’re spoiled for good craft coffee. That being said, we were BLOWN AWAY by source coffee roasters. Husband and I both agreed it was the best coffee we’ve ever had. Perfectly balanced, jammy, with tons of character. Robert and Andrew were great to chat about fermentation and roasting with. They also let us try samples of the cold brew and pour over as well. Both were stellar, and the pour over was the most flavorful one I’ve ever had. We ended up visiting two days in a row and brought home beans to play around with. Robert and Andrew recommended a starting point for extraction time and weight to dial the beans in, and it ended up being right on the mark. Thanks so much and keep up the great work! ”
“ Just had one of the best coffees in my life. The pour over smelled like strawberry jam and had strawberry tea on the palate, with a final pectin punch in the finish. The flat white was the perfect temperature (rare in the UK), was fruity and floral, with a punchy blueberry note and a familiar floral note that escapes me (elderflower?). I also loved the rock music playing in the background and grungy sci-fi design themes. ”

The Source shamelessly offers more expensive, top of the range beans, to give those of us already steeped in Specialty, the definitive experience and for those at the start of the journey, quite frankly, an education. I love it. Brief takeaway visit for flat white and filter, explained in the right amount of detail. Sample filter tasting offered, which told me I was in the safest of hands. Friendly, informative, coffee prepared with care, attention to detail and knowledge and all at a brilliant price point. Enjoyed my wee chat with the 'man in the know', too. Easy drop in on my next visit to Auld Reekie. If you're local, boy are you lucky. Such joy on your doorstep. This is the bar for a genuine coffee experience in '25. Pretenders should take note... ”
“ Wow! This was probably the best cappuccino I have had in my life. It was simply the next level - it had such a distinct flavour of dried apricots and was nothing like the other coffee I had tried before. The barista was measuring coffee up to a fraction of a gram and the pour up to a second. Overall he felt more like an artist and watching him was a pleasure. It’s a pity I only tried this coffee the last day in town. I would not have gone to any other places otherwise. Simply amazing and a must visit! ”
